Makelele Bids Chelsea Goodbye

Chelsea and Claude Makelele have parted company with one another after the French veteran decided to join Paris Saint-Germain.

  • Makelele's contract with Chelsea expired at the end of last season and Chelsea didn't renew his contract. Last season the then Chelsea coach Avram Grant didn't play the 35-year old French "water-carrier" as he decided to go for fresher and younger legs.



    Makelele joined Chelsea from Real Madrid in the summer of 2003 and was an unsung hero for the London Blues. He won the Premier League title twice with the Blues and was a consistent player for Chelsea.



    Makelele has decided to join French giants PSG as he can well realise that his highly illustrious career in which he established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in football history.
