Bassong joins Newcastle

Sebastien Bassong has finally completed his move to Newcastle from Metz. The France under 21 defender has inked a deal at the Toon, and is believed to have moved to St James Park for £1.8 million.

"FC Metz and Newcastle United have reached a financial agreement concerning French U21 international Sebastien Bassong. He will very soon sign a contract with the English club, who had him over for trial throughout last week," read a statement on the Metz website.



It is understood that Newcastle will now move for Deportivo defender Coloccini.
