VfB's Stuttgart's defender Fernando Meira is wanted by Roma. The Portuguese defender has been an integral part of Stuttgart's Bundesliga winning team.
The 29 year-old Portugal international was watched by Roma scouts in action against Serbia and is seen by coach Luciano Spalletti as a potential replacement for Cristian Chivu, who left over the summer for Inter Milan.
Meira is contracted to Stuttgart until 2010 and along with Roma, has also attracted formal enquiries from Juventus.
