Downing staying put

Middlesbrough midfielder Stewart Downing has ruled out a move away from the Riverside in January or next summer. The winger has revealed he is happy at the club, and was keen to rule out a move away to Tottenham, who apparently are weighing up an £11 million bid for the England international.

  • Chelsea want to sign Crystal Palace star
  • Chelsea to hijack Arsenal move for Ayyoub Bouaddi
  • Downing said: "I signed a long-term deal last season. My only aim is to try to get into Europe with Middlesbrough.

"There is always going to be speculation about players and clubs, not only me. You have just got to black it out.

"If you concentrate on what the press are saying your form might dip. I will only concentrate on playing well for Middlesbrough."
