Wolfsburg bid for Martins accepted

30 July 2009 - 07:51

Newcastle have accepted an offer from German Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg for the sale of star striker Obafemi Martins. It is understood that Wolfsburg will bring in Martins as they prepare for the departure of Dzeko.

  • Chelsea stepping up interest in Maxi Araujo
  • Nicolas Jackson makes Chelsea transfer decision
  • Dzeko is expected to quit the club for AC Milan, and Martins will be brought in as the immediate replacement.

Obafemi Martins had been linked with a move to Arsenal, but appears to be more interested in a move to Germany, insisting that he felt that league was to be the best in the world within the next couple of years.

The deal is expected to be worth in excess of £10 million.
