Newcastle are hopeful that they can agree a deal for Reading's centre back Alex Pearce. The player will be out of contract shortly. Pearce has spent his entire career with Reading and is said to be eager to stay in the Premier League.
Aston Villa have the joint longest unbeaten run in the Premiership, and a visit by Reading is the ideal opportunity for them to continue. Villa hold a 100 percent home league record over Reading.
