Spanish star to undergo Arsenal medical tomorrow

Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino is expected to undergo his medical with Arsenal tomorrow.

The Spaniard travelled from San Sebastian to London earlier today and he will complete his formalities in the next 24 hours.

The Euro 2024 winner will undergo his medical tests at London Colney before putting pen-to-paper on a four-year contract.

Merino is unlikely to be announced as a new player until Sunday, considering Arsenal are in Premier League action at Aston Villa tomorrow.

The Gunners have lost their last two outings against the Villans and they will be aiming to avenge those defeats in the late kick-off.

Meanwhile, Merino may not be the final summer signing for the Gunners. The club are looking to sign a new winger before the deadline.

Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams is the priority target for the club, but they are prepared to look at a low-cost alternative if he does not join.

The club could look for a Leandro Trossard-style purchase.
