Bayern Munich have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba at the end of the campaign, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The Cameroon international was a transfer target for the Red Devils last summer, but they were put off by the Seagulls' £115 million asking price for the talented midfield ace.

Baleba has since suffered a significant dip in his performances and it seems Brighton are prepared to provide a discount on the transfer fee to sanction his sale over the summer.

The Red Devils are still monitoring the player's situation, but it is claimed that Bayern could provide fierce competition in the pursuit of the former Lille man.

Brighton are reportedly eyeing around £74 million to part ways with the defensive midfielder and it remains to be seen whether either club make a formal bid.

Baleba has a gentleman's agreement to leave Brighton next summer, provided their valuation is met. The midfielder still prefers a move to Old Trafford.
