Chelsea set to battle Arsenal for Darryl Bakola

Chelsea are set to compete with Arsenal for the signing of Marseille winger Darryl Bakola during the ongoing transfer window, according to La Provence.

The Frenchman made his debut for the Ligue 1 outfit earlier this campaign, and has already managed 10 appearances. His form has caught the eye of elite European clubs.

Arsenal have been tracking his progress over recent months, but they are set to face fierce competition with the Blues, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich keen too.

The 18-year-old's current deal with Marseille expires at the end of next season, but they are prepared to consider offers in the current transfer window if he does not renew.

Marseille currently value him at around £25 million, and believe his valuation could drop further if he is allowed to enter the last year of his contract next summer.

Bakola has already received a contract offer on the table from the French side. It remains to be seen whether he renews or pursues a new challenge elsewhere this winter.
