Salomon Rondon’s fate seems likely to be secured in the next few days after West Brom accepted a bid from Chinese outfit Dalian Yifang .

That will leave Albion with only Hal Robson-Kanu as a recognised senior striker - and in dire need of new recruits.

Slaven Bilic has already made that point - but one striker who doesn’t look like he’s coming to Albion is Jordan Hugill.

That prospect was raised a few weeks ago when it was claimed West Ham offered a player-plus cash exchange for Rondon.

Hugill was a makeweight in a deal that was given short shrift by Albion - but Wigan are claimed to be a more willing suitor.

The Sun claims that Wigan have agreed a £3million fee for the 27-year-old target man who has failed to shine at the London Stadium.

They say Hugill is on around £40,000-a-week - twice what Wigan want to give him - but that the clubs are trying to work out a compromise.

Hugill was signed by David Moyes during his spell at West Ham, a £10m signing from Preston.

Coincidentally Sam Byram, who was also part of the failed swap deal for Rondon, has left the Hammers having signed for Norwich.

The defender has signed a four-year deal with the Canaries and said: “When I heard that Norwich were interested, I was really interested too. With it being a newly-promoted team, it’s an exciting new chapter.”
