It's that same old feeling for Spurs fans who have once again seen defensive mistakes and missed chances cost them dear.

Tottenham Hotspur are out of the UEFA Europa League

90min: Tottenham's Europa League campaign lives on for another 180 seconds.

89min: Now Winks is booked for a Spurs side who continue to lose their discipline as Vincent Janssen replaces Eric Dier, who was at fault for the second Gent goal - and arguably the first.

88min: Small hope for Tottenham as Son is picked out with space inside the box, but he lashes wildly off target. Victor Wanyama is booked for the hosts.

85min: Bookings for Louis Verstraete and Eric Dier have followed the goal with all the fight having gone from Spurs now.

They've battled well with 10 men this half but once again it's another shambolic European exit for Spurs.

82min: It's all over now for Tottenham. The Spurs defence is all over the place as Gent breakthrough, with a squared pass falling for Jeremy Perbet who scores his second goal of the tie via a deflection.

81min: If Spurs are recharging their batteries, they need to step it up soon. Gent are enjoying their most comfortable spell of the half with Spurs unable to threaten.

78min: It's gone a bit quiet from a Spurs perspective in the last five minutes. Have they simply ran out of gas playing with 10 men or are they getting second wind for a late assault?

75min: As Kyle Walker is booked for a foul, Mousa Dembele departs to be replaced by Harry Winks.

Meanwhile Jeremy Perbet, who scored the winning goal in the first leg, replaces Simon for Gent's last change.

73min: Big let-off for Tottenham. A far post cross finds an unmarked Moses Simon but he can only head into the outside of the side netting.

The Gent supporters think he has has scored but they are soon drowned by the sarcastic sheers from the home fans. The threat is there from Gent though, who if they score now will surely warp up this tie.

70min: Spurs fans want a penalty after Samuel Gigot appeared to trip Son inside the box, but replays show the South Korean simply fell to ground at his own accord.

67min: Still Spurs dominate with 10 men but Gent are not putting everyone behind the ball. The Belgian side are still keen to attack when the opportunity presents.

It's Spurs creating the chances though as Son Heung-min's low ball after cutting inside just fails to find Kane.

64min: Meanwhile Jan Vertonghen is fouled by Thomas Foket, but the defender's appeals for the Gent player to be booked only see him receive a caution. a silly booking to pick up.

61min: Seconds after Kane blocks a shot from his own team-mate, Eriksen flicks a squared pass from Walker into the path of Victor Wanyama who lifts a wonderful finish across goal and into the corner.

Spurs are level on the night but they still need one goal to go through as they are still heading out on away goal as it stands.

58min: Mauricio Pochettino is throwing more men forward now as the attack minded Son Heung-min replaces Ben Davies.

57min: Big chance gone for Tottenham. Eriksen plays a brilliant pass into the box for Harry Kane but the striker lashes wildly across goal when you would back him to at least hit the target.

56min: Dejaegere, who departs the field with blood still soaked on his sock following the Alli tackle, departs to be replaced by Louis Verstraete.

55min: Brecht Dejaegere, who is lucky to still be walking after Alli's challenge, looks like he is struggling out there and Gent are getting ready to make a second switch.

53min: Top goalkeeping from Kalinic, who races off his line to read a Kane pass and it proves crucial as he just about beats an unmarked and onside Eriksen to th eball.

51min: Spurs may have 10 men but they remain well on top. Some possession play eventually finds Walker in space out on the right but once again his low cross is well cleared.

48min: Christian Eriksen does well to win a loose ball 35 yards out but after running at a defender he can only fire weakly wide at the near post.

Thomas Matton has come on to replace Danijel Milicevic for the visitors.

One plus point in the first half for Spurs is Kyle Walker, who has caused plenty of problems for Gent on their left hand side.

The full-back has constantly found space to cross and shoot but so far the Gent defence have managed to block everything he has thrown on them. Can they keep that up for the second half though?

Granted, it's Kane's own goal that leaves Tottenham chasing two goals in the second half but the task looked hard enough with 11 men, let alone 10 following Alli's ludicrous tackle.

Sadly for Spurs they look on course for yet another early European exit. When will they learn?

45+1min: There will be two added minutes to the first half, with Kane attempting a 40-yard effort that is well off target. 

45min: Meanwhile Kalinic is booked for Gent, with the keeper already deemed to be time wasting. Dejaegere is still struggling following that Alli challenge.

43min: Vertonghen drives well over the bar from 25 yards as Spurs continue to toil in their pursuit of two more goals. 

40min: As if Tottenham's job wasn't already hard enough. Having not won a free-kick, Alli reacts with a sickening high challenge on Brecht Dejaegere to pick up a straight red card. He can have no complaints whatsoever.

39min: Gent's gameplan is clear. Soak up the Spurs pressure and hit them on the counter attack.

It's not a bad one either, the hosts are starting to get a little frustrated.

36min: So we've worked out that Spurs can't defend corners. Gent cause carnage from another set-piece nodded down into the box but the hosts eventually clear before the game stops so a Gent player can receive treatment.

34min: This time Walker elects against using his team-mates as he cuts inside from the right, but his powerful near post shot is well pushed behind.

31min: The Spurs attacks keep on coming. Kyle Walker looks in fine fettle as he attacks the right but his near post cross for Kane is cut-out at the near post.

29min: It's worth noting Gent still haven't had a shot on goal yet, underlining how much Spurs have dominated this game, and how sloppy they were to concede from a corner.

A low Eriksen corner flies through the six-yard box but Victor Wanyama, like Kane earlier, cannot make contact at the back post. Eric Dier could also have attacked it, but he wasn't even aware the corner had been taken...

26min: More Gent bookings as Kenny Saief is cautioned for a rather ridiculous sliding challenge on Kane.

25min: It's just not Kane's night so far. Ben Davies sends in a low ball from the left towards the back post but Kane is a yard short as he fails to apply the simple tap-in. Encouraging from a Spurs perspective though.

23min: All the noise inside Wembley is coming from the Gent fans now as Brecht Dejaegere is booked after fouling Eriksen 30 yards out.

20min: Harry Kane finds the net... the wrong net. A Gent corner is headed into the mixer by Danijel Milicevic before the Tottenham striker nods into his own goal. Spurs now need to score twice to stay in the Europa League.

15min: It's like a role reversal from last week. Gent are really struggling to deal with Spurs who are finding plenty of joy down the right through Kyle Walker.

12min: This is the only scoreline that would result the match going into extra-time, but Spurs want this done inside 90 minutes as Alli scuffs just wide from inside the box.

10min: Spurs soon find the target though. A long ball catches out the Gent defence, and it allows Christian Eriksen to pick up the ball, run into the box and slot a cool finish past Kalinic.

The Dane then picks the ball out the net to quickly restart play. Spurs mean business.

9min: Good play from Spurs as Kyle Walker fizzes in a low cross from the right that Harry Kane just misses out on connecting with at the near post as Lovre Kalinic collects.

6min: Spurs can't throw too much at this as they dominate possession. One goal does level the tie, but should they concede they will need to score at least three goals to progress this season, as Dele Alli sees a half-volley blocked.

3min: Following on from our breaking news regarding Ranieri around 30 minutes ago, Leicester have confirmed their Premier League winning manager's departure.

Meanwhile Spurs make a purposeful start at Wembley. Certainly better than the one they made in Belgium last week.
