Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has backed Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann to join Manchester United this summer, claiming he would thrive playing alongside Paul Pogba at club level.
Griezmann - who became Atletico's all-time leading goalscorer in the Champions League with his 13th strike in the competition against Bayer Leverkusen - has been the subject of interest from Arsenal and United in recent weeks.
The 25-year-old has risen from rejection as a youngster in France to one of the most wanted strikers in European football, and Petit believes the reported £85million transfer target would be an excellent addition to the Premier League.

Former Monaco, Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit backed the move
'I think he will come to Manchester United - definitely,' Petit told Sky Sports.
'He has a great partnership with Pogba in the national team, they are very good friends as well.
'He will bring goals, assists and his winning mentality.'
Pogba and Griezmann have built up an excellent rapport with the French national team, linking well throughout Euro 2016, and it would clearly be to the benefit of Les Bleus if the pair worked in tandem at Old Trafford next season.

The former Real Sociedad striker has cooled speculation linking him with a move away from the Spanish capital, insisting he is fully focused on achieving success with Atletico this term.
The La Liga title race was blown wide open on Wednesday night after Real Madrid's defeat by Valencia resulted in seven points separating the top four, and while winning a second domestic title in four years is unlikely, Griezmann says he is focused on 'creating more history' at Atletico.
But former Barcelona midfielder Petit, who enjoyed a fierce rivalry against United in the late 1990s, believes the striker has the hunger to prove a huge success in England.

The 46-year-old added: 'Griezmann, over the last four years, has improved step by step.
'Every single year he has improved his level all the time so he has got big ambition personally but as well with the team he is playing for.
'For me it would be a big bargain for Manchester United.'
