Reading FC have agreed to send out young strikers Nahum Melvin-Lambert and David Nyarko on loan.

The pair, who have come through Royals' academy, have both signed a month-long deal with National League South side Weymouth.

Melvin-Lambert came off the bench for his Terras debut over the weekend, while Nyarko was an unused substitute during the side's 2-1 victory over Dulwich Hamlet.

The former has three senior appearances for Reading to his name - all coming as a substitute in cup matches - while the latter is yet to make the step-up to first-team level.

It is the second loan in the National League South for Melvin-Lambert this season after he had a month at Hemel Hempstead back in September. The forward has also had two different loan spells with Irish side St Patrick's Athletic, where he helped the side win the FAI Cup final against Bohemians back in November 2021.

Nyarko has had one other loan spell while on Reading's books when he was sent out to Thatcham Town who play in the Isthmian South Premier Division. The 20-year-old scored five goals in his first two appearances for Town.

Melvin-Lambert and Nyarko were part of a triple swoop by Weymouth last week, with Bristol Rovers defender Jamie Egan also signing on the dotted line at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Boss Bobby Wilkinson said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to sign Jamie, Nahum and David. First of all, I’m extremely happy to get Jamie over the line from Bristol Rovers. He’s had some good experience as he’s played non-league football at this level with Gloucester and Hereford.

"With both Nahum and David, I’ve been able to use my connections with Reading which have helped me out in bringing both lads in. They are two powerful, quick strikers who will give us some great options in attack. I’m delighted to be able to bring them both in."

The Terras sit in 22nd place in the league out of 24 following their win over Dulwich Hamlet. They are six points ahead of bottom side Hungerford Town and six points off Slough Town in 18th.
