West Brom deny season tickets sent out to supporters had ex-captain Darren Fletcher on
Veteran midfielder quit the Hawthorns for Premier League rivals Stoke this summer
WEST BROM have hit back after the club were accussed of sending out season tickets with the image of Darren Fletcher on the front.
The Baggies' former club captain left the Hawthorns for rivals Stoke on a free transfer this summer.
And on the front of the season ticket was the embarrassing caption: "Our club. Our captain. Our history."
But West Brom's Chief Executive Martin Goodman has claimed the image and story is fake news.
He said on Albion's official website: "The Club wishes to make it clear that no documentation, with or on our season cards and sent to our season ticket holders had any reference at all to Darren.
“Furthermore, at no stage were our season cards produced bearing Darren’s image.
“The image reproduced by the national press was part of a season ticket application pack which was produced and sent out in February when Darren was an Albion player and captain.”
Albion wanted to keep Fletcher at the club but the former Manchester United man turned down the chance to extend his stay.
