Arsenal are threatening Manchester City plans for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.

The Daily Star says representatives of the Dutch defender have been in talks with both clubs.

Liverpool and Everton have also shown strong interest in making a move for Van Dijk, 25.

Arsenal and City are currently disputing pole position for the former Celtic man.

Van Dijk is not expected to play again this season, due to a foot injury.

But he will be fit for August and it is expected that he has already played his last match for Southampton.
