Panucci terms Inter favourites
AS Roma defender defender Cristian Panucci has downplayed his side's chances of winning the scudetto this season and says that Inter Milan are the favourites to clinch the league title in Italy this time.
Inter Milan have a slender 1 point advantage over Roma going into this weekend's final round of matches in the Serie A. Both sides are away from home this weekend and both confront relegation battlers.
Roma travel to the Sicily to take on Catania while Inter pay a visit to Parma. Both Catania and Parma are in severe danger of dropping into the Serie B and would fight their all to maintain top fight survival.
Roma defender Panucci though has marked out Inter Milan as the favourites to win the league. He feels that whatever their result in Catania, Inter will defeat Parma and that will be the end of the story.
The former Italian international right back says:
"The Scudetto? Inter will win. It will not be easy for us in Catania and we know this but we need to show our character in order to come out of the game with the better result.
“If Inter are playing for the Scudetto on the last day, it means that we have taken them there because we reopened the title race and it’s down to us.
“Of course they have also slipped up a few times along the way though."
Way back in February, Inter had opened up a massive 11 point gap lead between them and second place AS Roma but now that space is just a solitary point. Yet Inter do have their fate in their own hands.
A win for Inter at Parma would render Roma's result at Catania useless as far as the championship race is concerned.
