Diouf quits Senegal duty

08 October 2007 - 17:50

Senegal captain El-Hadji Diouf has retired from international football after criticising the Senegalese FA. The FA has been beset with problems lately and Diouf has quit as he complained about it's hierarchy and organisation.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • He told RFM radio station: "I have stopped my international career. There are so many problems with the national team.

"The team has a scheduled friendly match in a week and we don't even know who we are playing against. This is unacceptable.

"If we have to come and play for our country, we have to pay for our own air ticket and reimbursement of the cost is another big problem."

Senegal have qualified for the next year's African Nation's Cup in Ghana.
