Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has left the door open for Ghana international striker Asamoah Gyan. The striker joined Al Ain on loan for the rest of the season last week.
"The olive branch is there, but Asamoah has to convince Steve, and every Sunderland fan, of his commitment to this club if he is to return," Quinn said.
After he was unveiled to the supporters at Al Ain, Gyan hinted that a return to Sunderland could be on the cards, when asked if he would stay at Al Ain after this season: "I don't promise. I'm somebody who doesn't promise."
