Anzhi looking at Maicon

Anzhi looking at Maicon

17 October 2011 - 22:17

Free-spending Anzhi Makhachkala have apparently contacted Inter regarding a possible move for right back Maicon in the January transfer window.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Anzhi are willing to pay as much as €20 million for the 30-year-old defender as they want to build a squad that can challenge for the next season's Russian Premier League title.

Maicon, in his prime, was considered one of the world's best full backs. Although his performances have dropped over the last few months, he is still a big name in the Inter lineup and will command a high price.

Since joining Inter from Monaco in 2006, Maicon has won a large number of honours, having won four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias, a Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Since their takeover by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, Anzhi have been strong in the transfer market and will be looking to add to their already strong contingent, which currently has the likes of Samuel Eto'o, Roberto Carlos and Yuri Zhirkov.
