Chamakh to stay at Arsenal despite exit talk

Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh will stay at the club in January, despite speculation linking the Moroccan with a move away from the Emirates once the transfer window reopens.

  • Instead, it seems Chamakh wants to stay and fight for his place at Arsenal. Robin van Persie is currently Arsenal's only lone striker, but Chamakh wants to fight to win his place in the first team.

The Gunners have hinted that van Persie could be rested this weekend for the visit of Stoke, and that means Marouane Chamakh would be the automatic choice for the first team.

Chamakh's agent, Pierre Frelot, insists Chamakh is going nowhere: "The rumours about the possible transfer of Marouane to Roma or to other European clubs are false.

"My client is happy at Arsenal and wants to succeed at this club that gave so much to get him from Bordeaux."
