Newcastle hoping to keep Coloccini

29 October 2011 - 07:31

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew hopes that he can agree a new deal for Fabio Coloccini, but remains concerned that Liverpool are monitoring their club captain's transfer situation.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Alan Pardew's team have enjoyed an impressive start to the season that sees Newcastle in fourth place in the Premier League.

In fact, defeat in the Carling Cup during midweek signalled the end ti a 14 game unbeaten run.

But Alan Pardew hopes his team bounces back straight away this weekend, and that progress continues to be made in contract negotiations with Coloccini: "He has been outstanding for us as a captain and a player, we're in negotiations with him on a new contract.

"Liverpool like looking at our players, don't they? But I don't really want to add any more than that."
