Robin van Persie has won the Premier League player of the month competition for October. The Dutch striker helped Arsenal rocket up the Premier League, and his seven goals in three games have won him the monthly accolade.

Van Persie's stunning performances against Sunderland, Chelsea and Bolton helped Arsenal jump to fifth in the Premier League and seemingly rescue Arsenal's so far shaky season.<br />

Part of that was down to Van Persie's goals, and the award of October's player of the month seems a fitting reward for his recent contributions.
