Bolton manager Owen Coyle has admitted defeat in his attempts to persuade Gary Cahill to pen a new contract at the Reebok Stadium. Cahill had been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham but a move was not completed in time.
Gary Cahill's contract at Bolton will expire next summer, and a number of teams have been linked with signing the England centre back on a Bosman transfer.
Even Barcelona are reportedly tracking Cahill, as they look for a long term replacement for Carles Puyol.
Coyle's efforts to keep Cahill at the club appear to have failed, and the defender will leave in the coming months.
"It's probably better sooner rather than later,"said the Bolton boss, when asked about Cahill's transfer away from the club.
