Cavani not keen on Man City switch

Cavani not keen on Man City switch

26 November 2011 - 09:12

Manchester City's interest in Edinson Cavani is sure to be short lived, as the Napoli and Uruguay striker revealed that he was happy to stay with the Italian side and wasn't interested in a move to the Citizens.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • Cavani's two goal salvo against Man City during the midweek Champions League game has put Roberto Mancini's Champions League hopes on ice, as the Citizens now no longer have their qualification hopes in their own hands.

At the end of that game, Cavani almost immediately had been suggested as a replacement for the departing Carlos Tevez.

But Cavani only wants to play for Napoli and would shun a move to England.

“I am only focused on Napoli. I am always ready for a challenge and can play in a big league, but I’m very happy doing that in Naples," Cavani said to the Daily Mirror. “We’ve given ourselves the chance to qualify for the knockout stage, we upset City and we have to remain focused on ourselves.

“It doesn’t matter to me if City have increased their interest, because my only ambition is to help Napoli in the Champions League.”
