Bolton have stepped up their interest in Jonny Howson, after the Leeds United midfielder admitted that he would not necessarily stay at the club. Leeds have already offered Howson a contract, but the player has yet to accept.

  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Bolton manager Owen Coyle is a fan of Howson, and reportedly tried to sign the player during the last transfer window.

News that Howson may not put pen to paper on a new contract at Elland Road will be of interest to Coyle.

When asked about his new Leeds deal, Howson said: "These days people want to hear answers there and then but sometimes it takes a bit of time. I have got until the end of the season for it to get sorted out. We are still in discussions."
