Capello to stay on as England manager?

01 December 2011 - 11:25

Fabio Capello could be offered a new contract after the Euro 2012 tournament finishes. The Italian manager will see his current contract expire next summer, but the Football Association's Director of Football Development, Sir Trevor Brooking, surprised journalists after admitting the Italian coach could be offered a fresh package.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Capello has been linked with several jobs after his England adventure comes to an end, with Russian side Anzhi the club most likely to make an approach.<br />

However, Brooking admitted there could still be an option for Capello to stay: "Fabio's contract ends in the summer and the mindset is for change but you never say never."<br />

The FA are known to favour an English coach after Capello, with Brooking continuing: "If we could get someone home-grown it would send out the right message."
