Newcastle back in for Erik Pieters

Newcastle United have made a second attempt to sign Erik Pieters in January, as injury concerns mount up at St. James' Park. Steven Taylor looks to be out for the season, and the Dutchman could replace him.

  • Gary Neville breaks silence on Ruben Amorim
  • Confirmed Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Brentford, Estevao absent

  • The talented 23-year-old left back plays for PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie, and also the full national team for the Netherlands. He is valued at around 4.5m GBP by his club.

The 6 foot 1 defender nearly joined Newcastle last year, but a move was cancelled at the last minute by the Toon management.

Manager Alan Pardew is desperate to bring in reinforcements in January as his side have suffered a dip in form.
