Luis Suarez scored the only goal of the match as Liverpool beat Queens Park Rangers at Anfield. The Uruguayan's fifth goal of the season ensured that the Reds stay in touch with the title race, and helped to ease the pressure on under fire Suarez, currently embroiled within two FA disciplinary investigations.
Queens Park Rangers needed Radek Cerny to be at his very best as the shot stopper kept out Liverpool for most of the game. QPR were not at their best attacking wise today, as they reverted to a defensive looking formation.
Cerny kept out Luis Suarez who very nearly opened the scoring with a cheeky chip over the former Tottenham goalkeeper's head, but Cerny palmed the ball away. Maxi Rodriguez also had several chances to break the deadlock, but excellent goalkeeping kept the Argentine at bay.
The decisive goal came just two minutes into the second half, as Suarez would finally beat QPR's defence to head home from seven yards.
Liverpool should have doubled their lead at the end of the second spell but for the crossbar, as Shaun Wright Phillips fired the ball against his own bar from a Craig Bellamy cross. But in the end, 1-0 would be enough for an impressive Liverpool and helped earn a very important three points.
