Newcastle could lose Tiote in January

16 December 2011 - 08:38

Cheick Tiote could be on his way out of Newcastle in the January transfer window. Manager Alan Pardew admitted that Tiote's good form has attracted the interest of some big clubs; and eyefootball can exclusively reveal that Chelsea are in pole position to land the Ivory Coast international.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Tiote has been a revelation at St. James' Park since arriving from Eredivisie side Twente, and his combative displays in midfield have interested some of the Premier League's biggest clubs.<br />

Pardew wants to keep Tiote, but admitted an offer could be made soon for the player: "Cheik is a big target because he’s a great player and great players will be targeted. <br />

<span>"We value him very highly here and I think, on my part, I expect him to stay. <br /></span><br />

<span>"But that does not mean to say something might not come out of the fire. </span>If he did go, it would have to be for a silly price."
