Liverpool not tracking Darren Bent

Liverpool not tracking Darren Bent

08 January 2012 - 06:49

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish doesn't expect England international striker Darren Bent to quit the club this month, and has even revealed that Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish told him the Reds have no interest in a move for the striker.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • For two weeks Bent has been linked with a move away from Villa, and the striker has  taken some flak from supporters after being spotted shopping when the Villains were in action in the Premiership.

"It's not frustrating, it's just the transfer window," McLeish said.

"People like to speculate and use social networking sites and they are having a field day.

"If there is anybody out there that wants him they certainly haven't contacted me and Darren has said on the record he wants to stay at the club.

"Whenever I have asked anyone outside the club I've been told flatly 'No'. I have spoken to Kenny and he said there was nothing in it."
