11 January 2012 - 07:03

Despite Modibo Maiga failing a medical at Newcastle United earlier in the month, eyefootball understands that Stoke manager Tony Pulis has turned his attentions to the Malian international; who is pining for a move away from Sochaux in the January transfer window.

  • Chelsea urged to sign Man City star on free transfer
  • Chelsea squad want Xabi Alonso as manager
  • Maiga is very highly rated in France, and this season has been in impressive form for Sochaux, despite requesting a transfer away from Ligue 1.<br />

Maiga has a contract until 2014 with the French side, and is valued at around 5.8m GBP by his club. Stoke manager Pulis has sent scouts to monitor the 24 year old forward in action, and club officials have been very impressed with the player.
