Man Utd boss praises Scholes after goal

15 January 2012 - 04:06

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson praised midfield stalwart Paul Scholes as the former England international scored his 151st goal for Man Utd, and incredibly his  goal meant he had scored in 21 consecutive Premier League seasons.

  • Chelsea handed big injury boost for Bayern clash
  • Fernandes unhappy with Man Utd role under Amorim

  • Man United romped to a 3-0 win over Bolton, and Ferguson was full of praise for the evergreen midfielder.

"It was a surprise to see him at the far post," Ferguson quipped.

"With his age and the fact he has just come back, we were looking for him to control central midfield, which he did.

"But he has the instinct. He always has had.

"He probably said 'it is nearly half-time, I will gamble'.

"He is one of our greatest players. When you see his performance today, you don't lose that."
