Gary Cahill has finally completed his on/off transfer from Bolton to Chelsea. The England centre back has signed on at Stamford Bridge for a reported 85,000 GBP per week, and the Blues will pay around 7 million GBP for his services.
Cahill's signing for Chelsea ends one of the longest running transfer sagas in recent years. Bolton had slapped a huge 15 million GBP price tag on the defender last summer, but no deal could be completed before the end of the transfer deadline - despite major interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.
Two weeks before the January transfer window, Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas admitted that he was interested in the centre back.
Today, Cahill has finally put pen to paper on a deal and will join his new team mates for training tomorrow for the first time.
"Chelsea is a massive club, it is a club that looks to win trophies season in, season out and it is a big opportunity for me to be a part of that. Opportunities like this you can't turn down," said Cahill.
