Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has hit out at the media after seeing news stories suggesting that the player and his new club nearly didn't complete a move because of disagreements over his salary.
The former Bolton man's move to Stamford Bridge reportedly hit a snag due to Cahill's excessive wage demands, but the defender denies that those stories were true.<br />
“If it was about wages I would have waited until the end of the season, and everyone would have known,” Cahill said.<br />
“From when I was 16 I don’t think I have ever gone into a contract and sorted it out on the first day. There’s always been a bit of ‘meet halfway’ and that’s the way it goes.<br />“It’s been no different from any other contract. So, for me, just sitting back and seeing it all in the papers, was a little bit upsetting.”
