Arsene Wenger declares love for Arsenal

30 January 2012 - 08:24

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger shares the same pain as troubled Gunners supporters, as the Frenchman declared his love for the club and his desire to turn around the club's staggering season this year. The Gunners returned from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 against Aston Villa in yesterday's crucial FA Cup 4th round clash.

  • Wenger has been under growing pressure from club support to bring a trophy to the Emirates and effectively end the Gunners' 7 year barren spell without silverware. Over a week ago, Arsenal lost 2-1 to Manchester United at the Emirates; with many fans unhappy at Wenger's decision to bring off star performer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Wenger, though, wants the Gunners' fans to get behind him for the remainder of the season: “I understand that people question my decisions, but I wouldn't understand if they questioned my commitment and my dedication. I just want to do well for this club that I love.

“I am sad we cannot always keep the fans happy. The only thing we can do is show the spirit that we showed. When you come out of a bad period like we are, and you are 2-0 down, you can feel sorry for yourself or you can show you have the mental qualities to play for this club. I hope this convinces the team we have the required qualities and we can transfer that to the Premier League.”
