Mancini opens door for Tevez return

Mancini opens door for Tevez return

12 February 2012 - 14:11

Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini has indicated that there could still be a future for Carlos Tevez at the club. Mancini's latest surprise comments have suggested outcast Tevez could be brought back into the club's first team squad, as the Citizens prepare for their last 13 games of the Premier League season.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Tevez had been linked with a move away from Man City for over four months, and in January there had been much interest in the player from home and abroad.

Paris St Germain's pursuit of the Argentine failed due to huge wage demands, whilst AC Milan and Inter Milan could not agree terms with City for his transfer. Tevez has now been linked with a move to a Russian side, but that deal would be scuppered as the former Man United and West Ham striker has no plans to move to Eastern Europe.

City's manager Mancini has now offered an olive branch to the striker, after admitting that there could still be a future for the misfit forward.

Mancini commented: "Everyone knows Tevez is a top player and it probably would have been better for us if he'd been here. Carlos can change a lot of games. If he comes back next week, maybe he can help us in the last three months.

"I don't know if he is in good condition or not. I don't think so because he hasn't played for four months. But Carlos recovers strength very quickly.

"Carlos knows the situation. If he comes back, we talk. Why not? I don't have a problem. We've played a lot of games with only one fit striker and against Everton in our last away game, we couldn't make any changes from the bench."
