Liverpool star Charlie Adam out for season

28 March 2012 - 13:47

Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam looks set to miss the remainder of the season, after hurting his knee ligaments in last weekend's 3-2 defeat to QPR in the Premier League. The Scotsman has been one of the few shining lights in a so far mixed season for the Reds.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Adam sustained the injury against QPR last weekend, and youngster Jonjo Shelvey is expected to fill in the for the player.

"We know Charlie has strained knee ligaments, but we still don't know how long he will be out," manager Kenny Dalglish said. "He hasn't had an operation and as it stands he's not having one.

"It's only been a week since he did it. He needs to rest it for another 10 days or so and then he will be reassessed.

"We'll see how he is then and we'll be in a better position to know when he will be back playing. We haven't ruled him out for the rest of the season. We're just waiting to see how he progresses."
