Sir Alex praises Paul Scholes influence

09 April 2012 - 07:26

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has praised the influence of attacking midfielder Paul Scholes. The former England international has helped United to the top of the league table, and have secured 34 points out of a possible 36 since Scholesy returned to Old Trafford.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Scholes scored a match winning goal against QPR in a 2-0 win yesterday.

"That was a typical Paul Scholes goal," said Ferguson. "He has scored three since he came back into the fold and we have only dropped two points.

"You see the control of the game he has and the way he controlled the tempo of the game. That has never changed. At 37, he is still capable of that.

"He is a great player and integral to what has happened over the past few weeks."
