  • Real Madrid had to win the away derby as Barcelona had reduced the difference to just one point after their win against Getafe in the Camp Nou a day before. Ronaldo impressed the away fans with his great display of athelticism and great football.

The Portugese winger opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a 36 yard free kick. The hard, flat shot stunned Courtois and flew into the right corner of his goal. It was a brilliantly taken free kick and it started Real Madrid's quest for more goals.

Atletico equalised in the 55th minute through a Falcao header. Minutes after the hour mark, Ronaldo netted a thumping shot to the right top corner sending the away fans to great joy. He completed his hat-trick by scoring a penalty that the Whites got when Angel di Maria was fouled in the box.

Jose Maria Callejon scored the fourth goal of the night to complete Real's victory over Atletico.
