Arsenal to sign Monpellier starlet

Arsene Wenger is tracking 22-year old Monpellier skipper, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who plays as a defensive midfielder and a central defender. The versatile youngster is watched by many other clubs including Newcastle United.

  • The £7million rated French U-21 international has grabbed the attention of Wenger and the Gunners' boss is keen to sign the young star. Mapou is a regular starter at Montpellier since he joined the club at the age of 18. The 22-year old has already played more than 150 games for the club.



    The youngster is the captain of the team which is currently on top of the league above high spending PSG and Lyon. He is reportedly interested in English football and would love to experience the English game.



    He said "English football is incredible. It is more physical and I like that. It suits my style of play. I want to experience English football."
