Aston Villa to approach Rafa Benitez?

Aston Villa to approach Rafa Benitez?

28 May 2012 - 01:09

Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner has reportedly told top level club executives that he wants to bring former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez to Aston Villa as a replacement for Alex McLeish.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • McLeish was fired this month by Lerner after a disappointing first season under the Scotsman, who scraped past relegation at the expense of Bolton.

The Villans are now to turn to Benitez, but are not sure if the Spaniard would be interested in a move to Birmingham.

Benitez has reportedly not given up hope of a sensational return to Anfield and Liverpool; and will reportedly wait until that vacancy is filled before making a decision on his own future.
