Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has told club advisors that his main transfer target for the January transfer window is Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi, and he is willing to splash the cash in order to secure a move for the player.
The new director of football, Txiki Begiristain, has been assigned all duties for player acqusitions and according to reports from the Etihad Stadium, de Rossi is Mancini's preferred signing.<br />
City have so far struggled this year in the Champions League and apparently the Italian manager has attributed this poor form to City's fragility in the defensive midfield.<br />
Mancini wants to bring in his countryman to shore up a rocky midfield for the second half of the season.
