Everton seal Leroy Fer signing

29 January 2013 - 04:54

Everton have officially completed a move for FC Twente midfielder Leroy Fer. The 23-year-old scored 10 goals in 23 games for the Dutch club, and moves to Goodison Park for a fee of around £8.6 million.

  • Chelsea told to pay £42m to sign Pep Chavarria
  • Chelsea also want to sign Man Utd midfield target
  • The midfielder is affectionately known as "the Bouncer" in his homeland, and is popular with his club's fans for his aggressive tackling and box to box midfield displays.

Fer started his professional career with Feyenoord before moving to Eredivisie rivals Twente and becoming an important member of the first team there. Under Steve McLaren, the player has proven himself to be an indispensible member of the first team and has already made 2 appearances for the full Holland national team.

An Everton club statement read: "He will now head to Merseyside to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical."
