Everton's move for Leroy Fer is in danger of a dramatic last minute collapse after medical tests revealed a problem. It is understood the midfielder may still have an issue with his knee.
The FC Twente midfielder has been lined up as one of the Premier League's major transfer arrivals this month, but at the last minute the deal hit a snag.
An angry FC Twente supremo, Joop Munsterman, said: "Everton have additional requirements on the method of payment. Here we do not agree so it's stuck.
"We don't play that game here at Twente. They can come up with any demand they wish but we're not playing along with their demands."
