Manchester United have made an approach to Barcelona for their talented centre back Marc Bartra. The defender is expected to be an eventual successor for Carles Puyol at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona have rebuffed Manchester United's initial enquiry, telling the England club that they must make a firm offer for the player if they want to sign him.



Bartra is widely regarded as one of the best young prospects in La Liga, and recently forced his way into Barcelona's first team.
