Micah Richards and Zabaleta open Man City talks

Manchester City defenders Pablo Zabaleta and Micah Richards have opened talks with their club over a fresh contract. Richards had been expected to leave the Etihad Stadium, but will now be offered fresh terms.

This year Pablo Zabaleta has become the first choice right back at the club, as a result Richards has been reduced to less playing time.<br />

"There are other players coming soon - Zabaleta, Micah Richards," said City's chairman Al-Mubarak.<br />

"We'll make sure these players stay part of the future at City because they are really the core of this team.<br />

"As much as we need to continue to invest in this team we also need to invest in the core foundation of the team, which is these players."
