Everton are hopeful that they can agree a deal with Wigan defender Antolin Alcaraz. The defender is available on a free transfer as his contract with the Latics has come to an end.
The 30-year-old Paraguayan right back spent three years with Wigan and had been linked with a move to Everton to link up with former boss Roberto Martinez.
Now that he is out of contract he has been linked with a whole host of clubs in England's top flight, as well as German side Bayer Leverkusen. However, Alcaraz is happy to stay in the North of England and eager to link up with his former manager at Goodison Park.
