Sneijder Rules Out Chelsea Move

17 June 2013 - 15:36

Sneijder, has long been linked with a Chelsea switch and the reports weren't totally baseless considering Jose Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge and Galatasaray's announcement to be willing to sell the midfielder for 15 million pounds.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • But the Netherland international has quashed all such rumours:

"I moved here for a new culture and to get to know a new culture, and I can’t forget that"

"I have a good relationship with Mourinho and enjoyed working with them, but I love Istanbul and I owe a lot to Galatasaray"

Sneijder, after joining the Istanbul outfit in January 2013, helped Galatasaray claim the Super Lig title by scoring three goals and an impressive midfield game. He cost the Turkish giants nearly 6.3 million pounds and he feels his obligation to stay and win matches for the club.

"I want to play until January at least and help my team. I love Istanbul so much"

"My club have expectations of me. The board worked so hard for my transfer. I can't go anywhere because I owe them"

Sneijder was linked with Chelsea in order to unite with his former Inter manager, with whom he shared good relations but the Dutch in his statement refutes all such speculations.

It is believed now that Chelsea will turn their attention to Marco van Ginkel, who is widely considered as the "new Wesley Sneijder", with a deal in the range of 10 million pounds.
