Marco van Ginkel closer to Chelsea move

23 June 2013 - 06:32

Chelsea are hopeful that the finishing touches can be put on a deal that will see flamboyant midfielder Marco van Ginkel complete a move from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem to Stamford Bridge next week.

  • Arne Slot confirms big Liverpool injury blow
  • Bournemouth close to signing Chelsea defender?

  • The creative playmaker has been linked with the Blues for well over a month now but so far no official comment has come from either side regarding a potential transfer for the player.

However, eyefootball understands that Van Ginkel's representatives and Jose Mourinho have already met twice and that a deal is close to being struck shortly.

The full Dutch international first burst onto the scene in 2010 with his hometown club. Since then, he has continued to flourish under the close guidance of the coaching staff in Arnhem.

Last year Van Ginkel scored an impressive 8 goals in 33 Eredivisie games, that form would later bring even bigger reward as he made his international debut against Germany in November 2012.

Chelsea and Vitesse are close to wrapping up a deal that will be worth around 10 million Euros.
