Marco van Ginkel Should Make His Own Decision- Theo Janssen

24 June 2013 - 14:08

Veteran midfielder Theo Janssen believes that the decision for a Chelsea move should be left to the discretion of Marco van Ginkel. He reckons that the 20-year-old should make a move if he feels he is ready for it.

  • Chelsea offered to pay £60m for Bournemouth star
  • Bournemouth star wants to join Chelsea
  • Jose Mourinho has longed to capture van Ginkel’s summer signing and the reports linking the young star to Chelsea have been in the market for about a month a now. It is believed that Mourinho is in final stages of seizing the spectacular midfielder’s transfer but there has been no official confirmation.

    Janssen told NUsport:

"I gave him a call and told him my opinion. I said he must follow his feelings,"

"If he thinks he's ready for the next step, then he must do it. I think he is ready for a next step but the step to Chelsea is very big.”

"Eventually I think he will reach that level. Only the question is if he will reach that level already, or if he needs some time to adapt. I think the last one."

Janssen also seems confident that Ginkel wouldn’t be loaned out at Chelsea, should he accept the offer from the Stamford Bridge. Personally, the 31-year-old believes that Ginkel should not miss out on such a golden chance.

"It's the plan that he'll join the Chelsea squad, learn a lot and play on a regular basis,"

"I told him that opportunities like this don't come that often and, if you get a chance like this, I think you must do it."
